Lipstick: wonder in a tube. It is the most essential part of any makeup look. When you’re skipping on the whole eye makeup, definitely still throw on some lipstick. It makes you look polished, neat and adds a fun pop of colour to your face! Even when you’re looking like you just came out from the set of The Walking Dead, adding lipstick can make you look a million times more awake and healthier.. and definitely cuter/sexier (depending on what lipstick you have on!).
Spring and Summer is definitely the time for fun, bright lipsticks! I love pinks, corals and oranges. I have a yellow undertone and lean slightly more towards the tanner side. So without further ado, these lipsticks are my recommendations and top picks for Spring 2013!
1. MAC Lipstick in Betty Bright – LE (RM75/US$16.50)
Sadly, this is a limited edition shade from the Archie’s Girls collection. This is a really nice coral colour. It does lean more towards the pink side. It is a Satin finish. This is GORGEOUS. This is a universal shade that will fit majority of skintones. It has nice sheen to it and it doesn’t dry out your lips.
2. MAC Lipstick in Morange (RM68/US$14.50)
This lipstick is SO bright and SO bold. WOW! It is an Amplified lipstick. This is a straight up orange colour and it’s so pretty! It almost looks like you painted your lips orange (but MAC lippies smell so amazing?!). If you want a more subtle look, dabbing it on gives a really flattering orange flush to your lips. It’s not drying at all and feels very light weight on the lips. Definitely a love for Spring and Summer!
3. Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick in Coral Crush (RM29.90/US$5.54)
I LOVE the colour of this. It’s so bold. The picture doesn’t even do it justice.. at all! It is such a vibrant shade. If you don’t think this is vibrant enough, check out the new Vivids collection from Maybelline. That collection is not available in Malaysia yet 🙁 It’s a really flattering coral colour. I really don’t like the smell of this though.
4. Revlon Lip Butter in Sweet Tart (RM25/~US$6)
This is a bright, bold hot pink with a hint of fuschia in it. As a lip butter, you wouldn’t expect it.. but it’s super pigmented and super bold. This is moisturising for the lips. The downside to this though, is that it doesn’t last very long and you probably have to reapply every 2 hours or so.
5. Elianto Lipstick in N02 (RM25)
I got this in my Wonderbox January 2013. This, when swatched, is a nice coral pink colour. But once on the lips, it looks really bright pink (maybe because i have pigmented lips naturally.) It’s super pretty and super fun. This lipstick also helps moisturise dry lips.
6. Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Rendezvous (RM29.50/US$7.49)
This is a balmy orange colour. It is super moisturising on the lips and feel very lightweight. It comes in a jumbo retractable pencil form and applies very easily and smoothly (like a lip balm). I really like that it has a minty feeling when applied to the lips and it also gives a nice sheen.
7. NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Antwerp (RM24/US$6)
This has been one of my favourites throughout the whole year! It’s just a beautiful coral colour that leans more towards the pink side. This is a little bit drying but nothing a little lip balm can’t fix! It dries to a soft matte finish (not in the picture because it’s not dried.) And OH MY GOLY, guys. This smells like cupcake batter. Yumyum! 🙂
So, that sums up the post for today! I hope you guys enjoyed reading 🙂 Tell me in the comments what your favourite lipstick shade for Spring is!
