Do you remember when everyone was freaked out about the 21st of December 2012?! And now it’s already Fall of 2013! That’s crazy! Anyhoo, since it’s already fall time, I thought it’d be good to do a review and swatch a more fall-appropriate polish instead of my usual fun, bright ones!
Today’s Swatch & See is my first Butter LONDON polish and it is also one of their most famous nail polishes: Knackered.
“A sheer, twinkling oyster shade flecked with micro glitter particles. This duochrome nail lacquer is sure to please.” – ButterLondon.com
Review and swatches after the jump! 🙂
I love the packaging on Butter LONDON’s polishes because they look very different from others and if you have a vast collection of nail polishes, you can tell in one look which are Butter LONDONs. I included a picture with the square cap off because before I got this polish, I thought the square cap screwed off.
All Butter LONDON polish formulas are 3-free and contain No Formaldehyde, Toulene or DBP.
Knackered is a sheer (and I mean, sheeeeeer), blue-green-grey (oyster, as Butter described) colour that reflects a purple tint under light. It has micro-glitters of blue, red, green, yellow suspended in it that twinkles under the light.
Retail Price: $15 on Butterlondon.com, ~RM54 in Sephora Malaysia.
My sister bought this polish for me from a blog sale at only $10.
I like that this polish applied very evenly and smoothly. It is very, very sheer and if you want an opaque finish like I did, I had to use 4 coats! The upside to this is that, it dries fairly quickly so 4 coats wouldn’t take as long as you would think. The finish is somewhat gritty; you can feel the little, micro glitters if you touch your nail but I kinda like that, hehe. I wore this for a week and the chipping was so minimal that there was almost none.
The formula is nice and even, the colour is beautiful. The only thing I would change is the opacity of the nail polish but I would totally recommend this if you’re looking for a very unique, glitter nail polish! Butter LONDON is pricey, so I don’t think I would get the basic colours that I could get elsewhere (I might try 1 or 2 to see how well it applies, and keep you guys updated!).
Have you tried any Butter polishes? What’s your favourite?
