Hey guys! Today I have an exciting post for all of you guys- especially if you have sensitive skin and everything seems to be too harsh for your skin. Swarna from Vinova Pharma contacted me about reviewing some Medik8 products and it was perfect timing because I was breaking out like crazy at the time.
“Medik8® is an award winning, global skincare brand, which formulates products suitable for even the most sensitive of skins without compromising on effectiveness. Medik8 products deliver Results without the Irritation. Medik8® only make professional-strength products with proven technologies. Medik8 cosmeceuticals are specifically designed to target skin ageing, hyperpigmentation, acne, dryness and redness.” – vpskin.com
Medik8 has a bunch of different ranges that cater to different skin types such as anti-aging, hyper-pigmentation, acne, dryness and redness. I told Swarna that I have combination skin that is really dry in some areas and she recommended the hydrating range, Hydr8, for me. Today I will be reviewing both their gentleCleanse, and also their serum, Hydr8 B5.
gentleCleanse Antioxidant Rosemary Foaming Cleanser (RM126 for 150ml)
The key ingredients in gentleCleanse:
1) Organic Rosemary Oil- natural antioxidant
2) Natural Glycerin- draws water and moisture into your skin
HOW TO USE: Pump a small, but adequate amount into your palm and lather onto damp face and neck.
gentleCleanse is a skin refreshing cleansing foam that doesn’t strip away the natural moisture of your skin. When I see the word “foam” in a cleanser, I immediately associate it with being drying on the skin- but it really isn’t. What attracted me most about the whole bottle is the fact that it is: Paraben-free, Sulphate-free, Soap-free and also Fragrance-free (pretty much everything I mentioned in my “Chemicals to Avoid” post).
I’ve used this cleanser twice a day for a month now and I have to say that I really do like how it makes my skin feel. It’s like a breath of fresh air (and a
sip gulp of water!) for my skin, especially after long days. The cleanser smells like Rosemary so it has an herb-y scent to it.

Medik8 B5 Skin Rehydration Serum (RM266 for 30ml)
The key ingredients in B5 Skin Rehydration Serum:
1) Vitamin B5 (Pantothenic Acid)- Improves moisture-retention capacity of the skin and helps in regenerating and healing of the skin. Vitamin B5 also has anti-inflammatory and anti-itching effects.
2) Hyaluronic Acid- Moisturising active that holds 1000 times more water than its own weight.
HOW TO USE: I use about 3 drops into my palm and massage it into my skin. You could also probably drip it directly onto your skin and massage it in.
B5 Skin Rehydration Serum is a powerful skin-hydrating serum. It helps keep the skin’s moisture balanced, and improves skin texture, suppleness and luminosity. The Hyaluronic Acid in it helps to keep skin looking youthful and soft.
I’ve used up the sample of the B5 Skin Rehydration Serum and I love it- it’s definitely my favourite between the two products in this review. I love the not-too-thick but not-too-runny texture of the serum. Once applied on the skin, it almost immediately absorbs into the skin. It cools down my skin, makes it feel refreshed and keeps my face hydrated throughout the night- even with the harsh air-conditioning. It feels super lightweight on the skin and doesn’t have any obvious scents to it. This serum is also oil-free, fragrance-free and paraben-free.
