The year of 2013 is drawing to an end. It feels like just a couple of months ago that I did a “Bad Habits to break in 2013” post, but it was actually last December! Oh, how time flies! Anyway, I did a very awkward video of my “Makeup Favourites of 2012” last year, and thought I’d follow up with a post for my makeup favourites of 2013.
I will also be doing one for skincare, and body care so keep a look out for that.
Benefit POREfessional ($30 on Benefitcosmetics.com)- This is hands down, my favourite face primer this year! This primer has a silicone texture to it and dries really quick on the face. I love this because it smooths out my face and make foundation go on so well. It also holds on to my foundation, so that it lasts all day long. The only thing that I’m not crazy about in this product, is probably the fragrance- it’s not too heavy or anything, but you can definitely tell it’s there.
Revlon Colorstay Foundation; Shade 340 Early Tan ($11.99 on Ulta.com)- I loved this foundation in 2012, and I still love it now! It is seriously the best foundation that I have ever tried. It is a medium to full coverage foundation and it does the job for me. The matte finish of this foundation gives an airbrushed flawless finish without looking flat. The staying power of this definitely lives up to its name- it lasts a full day on me, even with my oily T-zone!
Lancome Teint Miracle Foundation ($40 on Sephora.com)- This is the foundation that I use when my face looks like it needs a little bit of life, lol! Great for tired, sleepy days. This foundation gives a radiant look to the skin, making it look fresh and awake. This doesn’t last as long as the Revlon Colorstay, but it feels lighter on the face compared.
L’Oreal True Match Super-blendable Crayon Concealer ($8.99 on Ulta.com)- This concealer is great for undereye circles. It is super creamy and easy to blend, yet doesn’t crease on me. The coverage is fantastic! It conceals redness really well. I love using this as my face highlight too!
Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Translucent ($4.99 on Ulta.com)- I got this product in a beauty swap I did a few months back and I have been using it everyday since. It is amazing! It mattifies my whole face, for the whole day! I use this to set my entire face, and it gives me smooth-to-the-touch skin, and it doesn’t cake up. This beat my elf HD Powder Blush- which I’ve talked about, like 20 million times, but the elf HD Powder is also worth a mention. 🙂
Bourjois Cream Blush in 02 (£7.99 on Boots.com)- I also got this in my beauty swap. This cream blush is probably the best blush- powder included- that I’ve ever tried in my entire makeup life. It is a soft, peachy pink colour. It goes on very smooth, and blends really easily. It gives a very natural and radiant look to the cheeks.
NYX Powder Blush in Mocha ($5 on Nyxcosmetics.com)- This is a beautiful, soft but bright (whut) pink colour that has a beautiful sheen to it. Yes, it’s called Mocha, and it’s a pink.. I don’t know, NYX has weird names. It’s super pigmented and blendable. Looks beautiful on the cheeks!
Benefit Watts Up Highlighter ($30 on Benefitcosmetics.com)- In the picture, it looks super frosty but I promise it’s not that bad in real life. This is so easy to use- one swipe, blend and you’re done! I think this highlighter is more universally flattering than High Beam, because it doesn’t leave that white cast that the High Beam leaves.
Benefit Hoola Bronzer ($28 on Benefitcosmetics.com)- The picture shows a new pan that I got in my Benefit advent calendar. I had one without a case from the Bronze of the Champions kit. I love the Hoola bronzer, and I’m sure many other people do too. I have medium skintone, and I feel like it’s the best bronzer for me. It isn’t muddy, or too orange.
Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion ($10-$20 on Urbandecay.com)- The famous UDPP. I really like it! I’m trying out Benefit’s Stay Don’t Stray, and I’ve really been liking that as well.. but nothing beats the Urban Decay Primer Potion, in my opinion. It makes my eye makeup last all day long without smudging or fading!
Urban Decay Naked Palette ($52 on Urbandecay.com)- The Naked Palette. The original. I feel like this palette suits my skintone better out of the two that I own (have you joined my Naked 3 palette giveaway yet?). The colours in this palette are warmer than the ones in the Naked 2. This palette is pretty much all I use every single day. Love it!
Haven’t found one. Do you have any recommendations for waterproof eyeliner? Please leave it in the comments.
Bare Escentuals Buxom Lash Mascara ($19 on Sephora.com)- By far the best mascara I’ve ever tried. It works so well for my sad- thin, short, sparse, straight- lashes. It gives me tons of length and volume. I love the effect it gives; kind of gives an illusion that I have more lashes than I really do, haha. Only problem for me is that it is not waterproof and it does smudge a little under my eyes throughout the day. Nothing a cotton bud can’t fix though!
Revlon Lash Potion Mascara – Waterproof ($7.99 on Ulta.com)- When I first got this mascara, I didn’t like it to be honest. It was just wet.. and didn’t give me much volume or curl. But after opening it for about 2 weeks or so, I guess it dried out just a bit. Now it gives me tons of volume in a single coat! The waterproof formula.. is really waterproof. It doesn’t smudge on me at all even though most mascaras that claim to be waterproof smudges on me like crazy. I pretty much wear this where ever I go that I need to look presentable all day long. This will not come off with cleansing wipes, but it does come off easily with an oil-based remover.
Billion Dollar Brows Brow Powder in Light Brown ($18 on billiondollarbrows.com)- I know, I know.. I only got this in my November Wantable Box, and it shouldn’t be put in my yearly favourites.. BUT it just works so much better than all the brow powders I’ve tried this year, even my elf brow kit! It’s not patchy, and it gives the most natural, softest looking brows that I’ve ever had.
Fresh Sugar Rose Lip Treatment ($22.50 on Sephora.com)- I wear this to sleep every night, and also under my lipsticks in the day. It’s moisturising enough to wear to sleep, and tinted enough to wear on its own. It kind of smells like 7Up, I love it!
Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Streak ($22 on Sephora.com)- This is the perfect coral colour for my skintone. It is super creamy and easy to apply to the lips. It is a little bit glossy so you really don’t have to use a gloss. I just find myself reaching for this every single day!
YSL Glossy Stain in Corale Aquatique ($34 on Sephora.com)- The picture looks a little bit orange, but it’s actually a very pretty coral colour (did you know I like corals? haha). This stain stays on the lips for hours like all lip stains do.. but what’s special about it is that the gloss stays too! This also feels very light on the lips and isn’t sticky. The only thing I hate is the alcohol smell that it has. It’s pretty strong, I’m not sure if it’s supposed to be like that, or if it’s just my tube.
NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss in Beige ($5 on Nyxcosmetics.com)- What’d I tell you about NYX and weird names? Haha. This is definitely not a beige! It’s a very pretty pink colour. I put this over just about any lipstick I wear. I like that there isn’t any shimmer in it and it makes my lips look really soft and smooth.
Phew! Those were really hard to narrow down but I think these are what I’ve been loving the most throughout the whole year.
Thanks for reading, xoxo
