Products I Regret Buying | ♡ October ’14

Over the time I’ve been wearing makeup, I’ve come across a few products that didn’t work for me. I like doing research before buying new makeup products so I usually only buy something that I’ve heard good things about. There are, of course, some exceptions. And also some products that received really good reviews but just personally didn’t work for me. I did a “Disappointing Products – High End”post quite some time ago too.

NYX Eyeshadow Bases
I got these because the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk was always sold out, and I thought it would be pretty much the same thing. Turns out, it’s not. I LOVE my Jumbo Eye Pencils, but I can’t say the same about these. They are very creamy and easy to apply and blend, BUT they crease in a matter of minutes! I’ve tried applying these with and without a primer underneath, and they still crease.

ELF Mineral Infused Face Primer in Radiant Glow
I’ve heard pretty good things about the original ELF Mineral Infused Face Primer so when I saw the Radiant Glow one, I got it in hopes that it will give my face a glow. However, this is straight up gold. With a heck ton of shimmer. If you were to apply this as a face primer, your entire face would just be shimmery gold. I think this would look pretty just on the cheekbones, but I just don’t get the point of it being a “primer” if it’s so gold.

Bare Minerals All-Over Face Color in Warmth
I got this in a set along with their Mineral Veil powder and brushes. This is a loose powder-type product that can be used anywhere on the face. The problem I have with this is the colour. It’s like an orangey-brown and it is super shimmery, so it definitely doesn’t work as a bronzer for my face. It’s a real shame though, because the actual powder is so finely milled, and it’s just a dream to blend. The colour really is a let down.

Inglot Eyeshadow in Matte 372, and AMC 60
I love my neutral Inglot Eyeshadows that I have, but these bright-colored ones just don’t feel the same. These feel like they have a drier formula and doesn’t blend as well. The blue one, Matte 372, stains my eyelids like crazy! Even if I remove it with an oil-based makeup remover, it leaves a blue tint on my eyelids that will only go off after a day or two.

Laura Mercier Foundation Primer
I got this from a Laura Mercier event. I’ve actually heard good things about this primer, but it didn’t work very well for me. This is the one that is for all skin-types and it just feels a little too oily for me. I do have very oily skin and this makes my face look shiny and feel greasy.

So those were a couple of things that I regretted buying, just because they didn’t work well for me personally.

Thanks for reading, xoxo
