I FOUND MY HOLY GRAIL MASCARA! It’s the Maybelline Falsies Big Eyes Mascara! I bought the waterproof version because I would look like a panda otherwise (well, more than usual). Usually I take so long to go through a mascara (mainly because I switch between different ones daily), but this one I’ve run out in a month and a half because I’ve been using it every. single. day. after I bought it. This mascara has had mixed reviews, some loved it, some hated it. But I LOVE it!
As you can see in the first picture above, I have Spongebob eyelashes (google Spongebob, you’ll know what I’m talking about.. haha) that are so sparse and without mascara, you can barely see them. My lashes aren’t short-short, but they’re not long either. I love big lashes that are voluminous, but not overly dramatic.
Firstly, lets talk about the packaging of this mascara. I’m honestly not a huge fan. It is double ended: one end is for your upper lashes, and the other is for your lower lashes. Both ends contain the same amount of product, which is what drives me crazy (or maybe I’m just crazy lol). In my head, I think it seems pretty obvious that you would use up the upper lash product faster, because there are more lashes and length to coat, right? So I just wish they would have more product for the upper lashes. For my tube, I’ve finished up the upper portion, while the lower portion still has a ton of product. That’s one of the downsides of this mascara – the packaging.
The wands: the upper lash side is a spiral, brush which is a normal, typical mascara brush size. The lower lash side is a small, plastic-y bristle. There’s nothing too special about the upper lash brush, but the lower lash brush is great for the lower lash line, and also the lashes at the inner corners of the eyes.
The formula of this is perfect – it’s not too wet to the point where everything transfers on to the skin when you blink while applying, but not too dry that nothing goes on, I love that after just one coat of this mascara, it looks like the number of my lashes doubled while still looking natural. After two coats, it looks like the number of my lashes doubled again, but this time looks a little bit dramatic, which is great for special occasions. I love using just one coat of this mascara on the upper and lower lashes, for an every day “I woke up like this” look. *inserts overly used laughcry emojiman*
Personally, I find that this mascara does a great job at everything. It volumises so well, lengthens, and separates the lashes beautifully. This waterproof version is seriously waterproof. It’s not going anywhere – no matter how much you sweat, or cry, it’s staying. It’s also going to stay when you’re trying to remove it. This mascara is a pain in the butt to remove, no joke. It only comes off with the most heavy duty remover I own (which is oil-based). I don’t mind doing the extra work to remove this because it is so great at not smudging.
In conclusion, this is probably my favourite mascara and I have already repurchased another tube of it. Yes, eventhough the packaging is frustrating, and it’s hard to remove, but the amazing formula does it for me. I can bet on this to stay put through an entire day of heat and sweat and make my lashes look amazing!
Thanks for reading, xoxo
