The matte/velvet lip trend is so in right now, and these Etude House Rosy Tint Lips lip creams are the way to go! These first came out in Fall 2013 if I’m not mistaken and during the release, I only picked up one shade – which is #8 After Blossom. Sometime during the end of 2014, they were having a sale on these and I couldn’t resist it and picked up another one – #3 Rose Petal.
#3 Rose Petal is a bright, rosy pink with a tiny hint of coral. #8 After Blossom is a darker berry colour that’s great for fall and winter. I believe the entire line consists of 8 different shades, ranging from nudes to bright pinks to darker berries. I have my eye on #7 Tea Rose, which is a nude colour.
These are highly pigmented, creamy lip creams that glide on the lips smoothly and give off amazing colour, and a velvety finish. Because these are so highly pigmented, a little bit goes a long way. This product is very versatile because on days where you want just a little bit of colour, you can dab on just a tiny bit of product and blend it out for a beautiful, soft flush of colour. If you’re feeling like a bold lip, then you can use the product normally.
The packaging of this product will either be a hit or miss because it does feature a “sponge-tip” applicator. I personally love this sponge applicator because it does a wonderful job of spreading the product and it absorbs the excess so you don’t have too much product on your lips. If the sponge applicator is a problem, you could always squeeze the product out onto the back of your hand first 🙂 The sponge applicator on these are also great if you want to try the gradient lips look (darker in the middle, lighter outside) as they blend out the colours really well. There are some complaints regarding the tube being too hard to press, but the two I have seem pretty okay to me.
On to the formula of these. They are a medium consistency – thick, but still fluid enough to easily spread over your lips. The feel of these on the lips are very lightweight and “dry” on the lips. “Dry” in the sense that it does not feel slippery, sticky, etc. But because these are velvet/matte, they will fill in the fine lines on your lips more than normal lipsticks do, but with these I feel that they are a ton better and less drying compared to other matte lippies, say the Etude House Vivid Pop Sticks. This problem can be easily corrected with some lip balm beforehand! These are very comfortable to wear throughout the entire day.
The longevity of these are amazing. Since these are a tint, they will stain your lips a little bit. With eating and drinking, the lip colour will fade after a few hours, but leaves a beautiful stain that makes it look like you have a gorgeous natural lip colour for the rest of the day.
I highly recommend these if you are looking for a lightweight, matte lip cream that will last as long as you need it to (at an event, work, school, etc). These are by far one of my favourite lip products in my entire collection!
