When I received an email from Luxola to try out some Mario Badescu products, I jumped at the opportunity! I picked the Silver Powder, and the Drying Cream that are supposed to help unclog pores, and dry out breakouts. My skin has been so bad lately and I have no idea why. I haven’t been using makeup much, and I’m still using the same facial products but I’ve been breaking out all over my forehead (little tiny bumps), and left jawline. I’ve read that it might be due to hormonal stuffs, but have you guys ever experienced breakouts in these areas?
The Mario Badescu Silver Powder is a powder that helps unclog and tighten pores. Many breakouts, especially on the T-Zone are caused by clogged pores and since I have a ton of them on my forehead, I decided to give this one a go. It is a super absorbent powder that absorbs the oil from the skin and tightens the pores naturally.
Basically, you dampen a cotton ball and press it into the powder to pick it up, and then you press in into your t-zone area (or where ever you want to unclog) and leave it on for about 10 minutes. Using a cotton pad with your toner/astringent, just wipe it off!
I’ve tried this product for about two weeks now, and I have to say it really does help! I haven’t given it enough time to clear up my skin completely, but it did help reduce the number of breakouts on my forehead and nose. I also notice that the pores on and around my nose are a lot less visible.
It can be a little messy to apply the first few times (cotton ball not dampened enough, too much powder, etc) but should be fine after a few tries. This product doesn’t have a scent to it. A little bit of the product goes a long way, so this tub will last a really long time.
The Mario Badescu Drying Cream is a “flesh-toned” cream that heals bumps by drying them out, and also helps to conceal the bump (like a concealer). This product is great for those huge pimples that appear as bumps that are so annoying and painful to touch (you shouldn’t be touching your pimples anyway haha).
You can use your clean fingers to apply the product directly to the face, or you can use a brush (as you would a concealer). Just dab the product onto the bumps and blend it out. You can use this alone on your face, or under your makeup.
This works great healing and drying out those annoying pimples, but as you can see in the pictures above, this “flesh-toned”‘ cream doesn’t blend well with the tone of my flesh lol. Because of that, I only use it at night but I make sure to wash it off well when I wake up.
Now.. the worst part about this product to me is… the smell! I don’t know what it is, I’ve seen someone say it’s the smell of sulfur. It has a terrible scent that lingers on the fingers (if you use your fingers, that is) even after washing it with soap twice. When it’s on your face, you can’t really smell it though, which is a good thing. Because of this, I like using a concealer brush especially for applying this product.
These Mario Badescu products have really helped heal my face a lot in these recent weeks, and I’m looking to get their Drying Lotion next because I’ve heard a ton of good things about it. They have a ton of products that target certain skin conditions (like rosacea, aging skin, and in my case, ACNE!).
