Last Minute Halloween Makeup: Makeup Mask

Halloween is just around the corner, and if you’re like me, you probably don’t know what to dress up as yet. I did tell you guys that I’m a huge procrastinator, right? Haha. But in all honesty, there aren’t many special events planned for Halloween here in Malaysia – no trick or treating, no halloween decorations, etc. In the recent years, there’s been some halloween dress up parties though. This year for me, is going to be a quiet one. But anyway, today I thought I’d show you guys a last minute halloween makeup look that you can do for halloween in under 30 minutes! There is also a 50% off code for Pinky Paradise (beautynerdbynight50) if you’re interested in picking up some coloured lenses for your Halloween look, or just daily wear.

I love the look of the bloody, gory makeup looks for Halloween, but I also love the pretty ones. I can’t do special effects makeup at all so I’ll have to stick with what I know – which is beauty makeup. Today I’ve created something I’d like to call the “Makeup Mask”, but to be honest, it looked better in my head lol. The idea behind this is that, some times I think we tend to hide behind our makeup to conceal our insecurities and “flaws”. You know, we want big lips, bold brows, false lashes, on-point contouring. Hence, the Makeup Mask!

I was going for a “I’ve torn off a piece of my makeup mask to reveal my actual face” effect. It would have probably looked much better with some special effects makeup on the tear. I tried to do some shading and highlighting but it can definitely be improved. If you want to try this out, I think using a cooler tone for the shading would look a lot better! So for my makeup mask, I went full on, flawless skin, glam makeup. As for the “actual face” area, I left it makeup-free, except for the shading of the tear and some lipstick.

I think I could’ve made the edges of the tear and the actual tear a little bit more irregular instead of this kidney bean shape haha.

My favourite part of this look is probably the lip area – I love the drastic difference between the natural lip and the overlined, full lips. I cheated a little here, to be honest haha. I didn’t want to make my lips too big, so I actually concealed my lips in the tear area, and drew a smaller lip.

Makeup Details

To draw on the tear, I used my Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper and shaded it with a brown eyeshadow and added some highlights with a skintone eyeshadow shade. For my face, I used the The Saem Tip Concealer to conceal my undereye bags and also any blemishes on my face. Then I used my favourite high coverage foundation, the Too Faced Born This Way to get the effect of flawless skin. Then, using my Etude House Play 101 Highlight + Contour Pencil, I bronzed my face and added a pop of highlight to my cheekbones. I topped that off with my Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer and the Becca Champagne Pop highlighter. Lastly, I set my entire face with the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder.

Eyes and Lips

For my eyes, I used two of my favourite palettes – the Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani Eyeshadow Palette and also the Stila Eyes are the Windows Palette in Spirit. My lashes are the Kiss Lashes Looks So Natural in Flirty, which is a gorgeous voluminous lash style, while still looking natural. I filled in my eyebrows with the ELF Eyebrow Kit in Medium, and made sure the edges were crisp and clean. On my tear side of the lips, I used the Bourjois Souffle de Velvet in Fuchsiamallow. On the makeup mask side, I used Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Lolita.

Coloured Lenses

I should have done one eye with, and one eye without lenses but I’m blind as a bat without them haha. These gorgeous coloured lenses are from Pinky Paradise, and they are the Venus Eye Grey. These are grey lenses, and I think they look pretty natural even on my dark eyes. I have an exclusive 50% discount code for you guys that are applicable to all lenses on PinkyParadise (except Phantasee, Sclera, Toric)!

Use the code “beautynerdbynight50” to get 50% off all lenses (except Phantasee, Sclera, Toric) on PinkyParadise, valid till 31st October.

I love the Venus Eye Grey lenses and I’ve been wearing them around everywhere! Pinky Paradise has a huge selection of different coloured lenses so surely there is something for everyone. These Venus Eye Grey lenses are normally $25.90, but you can get them for only $12.95 with the code beautynerdbynight50.

So that was my very last minute halloween makeup look! All you need are makeup products that you probably already have in your collection 🙂 I just want everyone to know that you are beautiful in your own way – you don’t have to have Kylie lips, or Instagram brows, or perfect skin. With that said though, makeup is fun! It’s great to experiment with different makeup trends, but please don’t hide your true beauty behind a makeup mask. I think this concept can be interpreted in many different ways, so make what you will of it! 🙂

I also did a last minute halloween makeup look two years ago, on a Cracked Porcelain Doll look. What do you guys think of this look, and what can be improved? And most importantly, what are you going to be for Halloween this year? Let me know in the comments! 🙂
