Happy Hump Day, guys! Time has been flying by – I can’t believe I’m already halfway through my (not-so) new (anymore) semester at university! I finally made a schedule that works perfectly for school + my blog. I post every Monday, Wednesday and Friday so check back often for new posts 🙂 Today I have a review of another Korean beauty product for you – this time it’s on the Etude House Face Blur SPF33 PA++. I’ve been searching for a product that will give my skin a healthy glow while also keeping my makeup on the entire day. I came very close when I tried out the VDL Lumilayer Primer – it gave me a near glowing-goddess level glow, but then it didn’t do much to make my makeup last. And so my search continues… Let’s see if this Etude House Face Blur SPF33 PA++ cream is the one!
Etude House Face Blur SPF33 PA++
The Etude House Face Blur SPF33 PA++ is a lightweight cream that provides multi-filtering effects to instantly give smooth skin while minimising pores and brightening up the complexion. From the Etude House website, it says that this covers pores to give flawless skin, gives a skin softening filter effect for even skin, naturally brightens up dull skin and most importantly, gives the skin a 3-in-1 multi-filter effect like “adjusting light on skin”.
The product contains Baby Pixel Powder (also called Blur Powder) that has superfine particles which smooth the skin while blurring out pores. It also contains Cover Powder that hides blemishes by diffused reflection (sounds cool). With 4 stars on Amazon (and almost 650 reviews!), there are a ton of people raving about the blurring effect that gives the skin a photoshopped (done right lol) look.

The packaging of this looks really cute and girly, but honestly feels a little bit cheap when you hold it. It’s made of a very light plastic and it just doesn’t have that luxurious weighty feel that the VDL Lumilayer Primer does. But this primer also comes with a pump! I hate those squeezy-tube primers so I’m glad this is in a pump bottle. The pump is also really good at getting just the right amount of product out. One pump is sufficient for the entire face.
When you pump it out, it’s a thick cream that feels very much like sun cream. But once you spread it out, it absorbs into the skin and doesn’t feel heavy. It does, however, leave a sliiiiightly tacky feeling on the skin that helps makeup stick on better. One of my favourite things about this primer is the scent! It might be a dealbreaker if you don’t like scented products, though. It has a baby powder scent (aka the best smell in the world) that is quite strong. The scent personally doesn’t bother me, but it’s something to keep in mind if scented products aren’t your thing.
When I first tried this out, I was very disappointed because it didn’t really cover any of my pores or give me the photoshopped look everyone was talking about. And then after trying it for a couple more times, I realised that I’ve been using it completely wrong! I’m so used to silicone-based primers that dry out my skin so I only use a very minimal amount (barely half a pump for the entire face). That’s what I did when I first tried this out and that’s why it didn’t work well.
After I started using one full pump for my face, I started seeing why everyone was raving about this! It gave my skin an airbrushed, blurred look; almost like a filter you’d find in BeautyCam! It’s such a gorgeous finish that even my boyfriend who’s pretty oblivious when it comes to my makeup (is it a guy thing? lol) complimented my skin. It also blurs out the pores on my nose area and evens out my skin tone really well. Not only that, it gives my skin a really soft glow that doesn’t feel or look greasy. But if you have oily skin (like me!), this is definitely a product that you have to set with powder. Even though this has SPF in it, it doesn’t give my face a white cast.
You can wear this alone or underneath your foundation. It actually does help my makeup last longer, but again, not for the entire day. To be fair, they didn’t market this as a primer, they marketed it as a blurring cream. It’s not a big problem for me because if I use my trusty Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray, my makeup won’t budge until I take it off, and also because I’m in love with the way this product makes my skin look!
If you want flawless, airbrushed skin that looks healthy and glowy like you just stepped out of a magazine (front cover, baby!), I cannot recommend this Etude House Face Blur SPF33 PA++ enough! I’m pretty sad I only discovered this after posting my 16 Korean Beauty Products You Need Right Now post, but I’ll definitely include it in an upcoming post! You need to try it! This product is now in my daily makeup routine and my skin has never looked better!
