Happy New Year, beauty nerds!! 2017 is done and dusted! 2017 was a bumpy ride, but I’d say it was a pretty good year overall! I hope you had an amazing Christmas, holidays, and generally a great year, and that 2018 has been going well for you so far 🙂 December was all about gifts and holidays, and today I wanted to share a Christmas gift I got from Belif Malaysia and The Butterfly Project. We’ll be talking about the Belif Moisture World Gift Set, which includes Belif skincare products that are specially curated for oily, but dehydrated skin. I’ve raved about belif quite a bit on here in the past, and the one product that I absolutely love from them is their belif Aqua Bomb.
However, apart from a couple of those products, I’ve never tried much from them so when I was over the moon when I got accepted into this review activity from The Butterfly Project. If you’re a beauty blogger from Malaysia, I highly recommend signing up for The Butterfly Project. It’s a wonderful community of beauty bloggers, there are many opportunities and many things to learn from.
The belif Moisture World Gift Set comes with 4 products that are perfect for oily skin – Cleansing Oil Fresh, Oil Control Moisturizer Fresh, Aqua Gel Oil, and Tinted Moisturizer Powdery BB.
I didn’t use to be a huge fan of cleansing oils because using an oil-based product on my oily skin sounded really unappealing to me. However, after trying out a couple of cleansing oils I really liked, they are now my go-to way to take off any heavy duty makeup. This belif Cleansing Oil Fresh is specially formulated for oily/combination skin. I pump out about 2 pumps and rub it all over my face. For my eye makeup, I dispense some product onto a cotton pad, press it gently on my eyelids for about 10 seconds, and wipe off. It’s very effective at taking off even my most waterproof mascara. And best of all, it doesn’t make my eyes go blurry if I get some in my eyes (this is the problem I have with most cleansing oils/cleansing balms)!
I follow up by using a foaming cleanser and it removes all the oily residue left on my skin by the cleansing oil. After trying this for a month, I didn’t have any problems with it breaking me out. It leaves my skin feeling fresh and clean.
This belif Oil Control Moisturizer Fresh is a super lightweight gel moisturiser that is made for oily skin. It’s a very thin consistency so if you have very oily skin, this is perfect as a morning moisturiser. However, I personally find that this moisturizer doesn’t do enough for my skin. I have very dehydrated skin (which leads to oily skin) so I need something a little more hydrating. If you don’t have problems with dehydrated skin, and you have oily skin, this one might be a good one to test out if there’s a belif counter near you to see if the formula is something you’d like. It is the thinnest moisturiser I’ve ever used to date!
NOW, THIS STUFF… IS AMAZING! The belif Aqua Gel Oil is a lightweight but intense moisturiser that’s perfect to apply before bed. It has a much thicker consistency compared to the Oil Control Moisturizer, and it does tend to feel just a little “greasy” on the skin. Because of that, I only use this during the nighttime. The perfect combination is to use the belif Aqua Bomb in the morning, and this belif Aqua Gel Oil at night for maximum hydration.
This stuff is perfect if you have dehydrated, but oily skin like me. It didn’t break me out, and it kept my skin looking and feeling smooth, hydrated and glowy.
December has been a busy month for me and I like putting on makeup that is simple and easy to wear, so I used a lot of BB Creams. This belif Tinted Moisturizer Powdery BB is very lightweight and has a very sheer coverage. The consistency is thicker than say, a typical BB Cream, but when it goes on, it doesn’t feel heavy on the skin at all. It evens out any redness on my skin and gives a fresh, natural finish. However, the only downside to this tinted moisturiser is that it has only one shade and as you can see, it’s quite light compared to my skin. It’s also a little bit more pink-toned, so this is definitely not a “one shade fits all” tinted moisturiser.
Those were everything in the belif Moisture World gift set! I really love belif products, and these new additions to my skincare routine were no exception. If I were to recommend just one product from this post, I’d definitely go for the belif Aqua Gel Oil. And while you’re at the store, grab their belif Aqua Bomb too, it’s so good (I was very tempted to say it’s the bomb, but that’s so predictable :p)!
The Butterfly Project:
I hope 2017 was good to you, and that 2018 will be even better! Sending all my loves and kisses x
