I know, I know… posts have been few and far between. From my previous MIA episodes, you’re probably expecting an excuse, but honestly, this time I don’t have one (or not a very good one, at least). So we’re just going to skip through that, okay? 😛 I’m back on track though and I have tons of content planned out for you, so expect the (once upon a time) usual 2-3 posts a week!
We’re kicking things off today with the most raved about face primer in K-beauty history, the J.One Jelly Pack, which promises to moisturise, firm and prime the skin. The J.One Jelly Pack was created by famous Korean actress, Ha Ji-won, and she claims that it is her “secret weapon”. I have a hard time believing that this one product is all you need to achieve gorgeous skin like hers so I was very sceptical but of course, I had to have it anyway #beautyhoarderproblems.
The J.One Jelly Pack is a multitasking product that moisturises, firms and grips makeup so you can achieve a flawless, plump complexion. The two key ingredients in this product are fragmented hyaluronic acid and fullerene. The hyaluronic acid draws moisture to the skin to keep it hydrated whereas the fullerene, according to the Glow Recipe website, is an “oxygen-magnet” to brighten the skin.
I’m not kidding when I say this product has a serious fan club. People have very strong feelings about this primer. I’ve heard it called a “wonder product” and “makeup gripper” amongst other things. “Game-changer” also came up a lot. I mean, with the $42 price tag, it better be, right? So naturally, I went into this with crazy high expectations.

Where to Buy:
Let’s talk about packaging! The J.One Jelly Pack comes in a sleek, white bottle that has a pump (praise the makeup gods!). I love how it looks with the simple and minimalistic bottle. However, there is one downside to the packaging – there is no way to see how much product you have left.
The consistency of this product is really hard to explain. On the website and in most articles, it is described as having a jelly texture, hence the name “Jelly Pack”. I feel like a better representation of the texture would be …glue, lol. That sounds gross, but that’s exactly what it feels like – no joke! It is a very thick, glue-like texture that dries to a tacky finish and creates almost like a “barrier” on the skin. You know how when you were a kid, you would put glue on your skin, let it dry so you could peel it off just for fun? (…just me? 😛 ). I know that doesn’t sound very appealing but the feeling goes away after a minute or so. It is very thick and very sticky which is supposed to help grip makeup so it lasts longer on the skin.
When I use this, I skip moisturiser and apply it straight after toning my skin like the directions suggest. To cover my entire face, I use about 3-4 pumps, which is A LOT of product. I’ve read reviews where people use up to 7 pumps! Considering that this is only a 50ml bottle and that the product itself is very viscous, it feels like it might run out very quickly. I’ve used this for about 15 times now across a two-month period. It’s still going, but then again, I honestly can’t say for sure if it’s running out or not because of the opaque bottle.
This J.One Jelly Pack hydrates my skin and smoothes out any dry patches and most of the pores on my skin to create a flawless base for makeup application. This product has something known as a “corset mask” effect: after it dries, it tightens and firms up the skin A LOT. It feels kind of like a temporary facelift. Whenever I use this, my foundation always goes on super smooth and looks amazing. However, I don’t think it really “grips makeup” though. I have combination skin and it doesn’t control sebum production. I start getting oily around my T-zone area and I find that my foundation starts wearing off around the 3-4 hour mark.
Hydrating, great for dry skin
Firming & tightening
Smoothes out skin for flawless foundation application
Only lasts 3-4 hours on oily skin
The thick texture is pretty hard to spread out at first
In conclusion (haha, sounds like a high school essay), this is an amazing product if you have dry to normal skin. It removes any dry patches and makes your skin look super flawless. It doesn’t control oil production, so if you have oily skin, your foundation might not last very long. However, if you don’t mind touching up your foundation on the go, then I would still recommend trying this out because the finish is sooo beautiful! I also imagine that the tightening and firming effects of this would be amazing for more mature skin, too.
