Etude House Play Color Eyes Juice Bar

Peach shades have been long time favourites of many when it comes to makeup, especially lipstick and blush. More recently, thanks to the Too Faced Sweet Peach palette, it’s started a whole peach eyeshadow craze. I’m not complaining though, because I am one of those people in the craze, haha. Since the peach eyeshadow craze is pretty new, there aren’t many palettes out there similar to the TF Sweet Peach. So naturally when I came across this Etude House Play Color Eyes Juice Bar Palette, the question “Could it be?! Could this palette finally dupe the Sweet Peach palette?” came immediately to mind.

Etude House Play Color Eyes Juice Bar Palette

In the Etude House Play Color Eyes Juice Bar palette, it looks like many shades are similar to the Sweet Peach. However, after swatching both palettes side by side, it’s clear that the answer is still no, it’s not a dupe. At all. Only two shades are similar enough to be dupes, which are the shades Bellini and Tempting from the Too Faced palette. Even though it’s not a dupe for the Too Faced Sweet Peach, it is still a very gorgeous peach palette. There is a good variety of light to dark shades, and a good mix of mattes and shimmers (also one glittery!). There is a shimmery light gold shade, called Bubble Bath (most right) that is a beautiful highlight shade, and Raw Cacao (most left) is amazing to smoke out any eye look.

Even though I’ve heard amazing things about this palette, I was a little worried about the formula and pigmentation of these. I’ve tried some Etude House single shadows that were just …meh. However, I’m happy to report that the formula of these Etude House Play Color Eyes Juice Bar palette eyeshadows are pretty good. They’re very soft and buttery, and the pigmentation depends on the shade, but overall is pretty good. The only shades where the pigmentation are a miss for me, are Raw Cacao and Soft Peach.

These eyeshadows are very easy to pack on for full-on colour, with a brush or your fingers. They also blend seamlessly into each other. However, these don’t last very long on their own on my oily eyelids, but that’s pretty normal. With an eyeshadow primer underneath, these can last the entire day.

Overall, it’s a pretty good palette. Would I run to the store (or their website lol) to get it right away? Probably not. The palette has a good mix of peach shades that are pretty unique and not easily dupable, but they’re honestly not something I would wear every day. But of course, that’s just me! If peach is your thing, and you’re sick of using the Too Faced Sweet Peach palette all the time, this is for you!

Fall Nail Polish Picks | 2016

Happy Monday, guys! Sorry for taking a week off, but it was a very unproductive week haha. Anyway, it’s officially Fall now! Even though Malaysian weather is pretty much summer all year long, but Fall does bring in more rain and of course, new trends! Fall time means darker colours, sweaters and PSLs, but sadly, sweaters in 30 degree Celsius weather is a not a very good idea haha, and PSLs aren’t available here in Malaysia 🙁

Today I’m showing you guys my fall nail polish picks for 2016!  These are the types of colours that I’ll be rocking through out fall, unless I get new nail polishes, of course haha. I did a fall nail polish picks post in 2014 as well, and it’s pretty cool to see how much my taste in nail polish shades have changed. Lets check out my fall nail polish picks and hopefully you find a new nail polish to try for the fall!

Fall Nail Polish Picks | 2016

Fall Nail Polish Picks | 2016

You could see in my 2014 fall nail polish picks post that I was more into the rich, jewel-tones. Fast forward two years and I’m more into deep, dusty colours. I have a mix of drugstore and high end nail polishes to show you guys. Most of these shades are cremes, with a few shimmers thrown in!

Fall Nail Polish Picks | 2016

Trust Fund Beauty Champagne Socialite ($15)

Trust Fund Beauty is a vegan and cruelty-free brand that sells lipsticks and nail polishes, all formulated in the USA or EU. Champagne Socialite is a gorgeous rose-gold shade that’s gorgeous all year round! This is a shimmery formula and it sparkles beautifully under light. The formula of this is on the more watery side, which makes it very easy to apply. It is a little bit sheer because of the formula, but two coats is enough for full opacity. I think this is one of those shades that everyone should own – it’s classy and elegant, perfect for a dinner party, an event, etc.

Etude House Berry Delicious Souffle Nail in #8 ($2.45)

#8 is a gorgeous deep red with a subtle shimmer running through it. The Berry Delicious Souffle Nail range is scented, and smells just like berries! The formula of this is amazing and this could pass for a one-coater. However, in my swatch, I used two coats for maximum opacity.

Etude House Forest Aurora Nails in #376 and #381 ($2.50)

The whole Forest Aurora range is perfect for fall, but I only picked these two up. #376 is a gorgeous dark purple that has fuchsia reflects and #381 is dusty purple mauve with teal reflects. Again, the formula of these are amazing! Etude House Nail polishes are so affordable and their formula is always on point!

OPI In the Cable Car Pool Lane ($7.91)

This rich burgundy shade has been my go-to fall shade for three years. That’s why the swatch looks horrible – it’s become so gloopy that I need to pick up a new bottle. I love the formula of this. It’s so pigmented and definitely a one-coater as well. OPI nail polishes have an amazing brush that is slightly wider that makes it super easy to apply the polish.

Essence the Gel Nail Polish in #20 Beautiful Lies ($1.99)

A deep lilac is a must for me during fall! It’s a good balance between a fall and summer shade – it’s deep enough but still has a fun pop of colour. The Essence the Gel Nail Polishes are so extremely affordable, but have amazing formulas. They’re very creamy, mostly one-coaters, and gives a beautiful gel glossy look.

    Elianto Serenity

This one is a Malaysian brand so it’s not accessible if you’re outside of Asia. But basically, I like to pick out one bright colour for fall. A bright manicure is what you need for those gloomy days out some times! Elianto Serenity is a gorgeous periwinkle creme polish. The formula is a little bit sheer, but 2 coats gives it full opacity.

Fall Nail Polish Picks | 2016

So those were my fall nail polish picks for 2016! Hopefully you found a new polish to try! I’m always on the hunt for more nail polishes (#hoardersunite). So if you have any recommendations, let me know in the comments!

    Thanks for reading, xoxo

Etude House Bling Me Prism Color in Liquid Lips

Etude House Bling Me Prism Color in Liquid Lips
The last time I was in Etude House, I was shopping for a friend, but then this Etude House Bling Me Prism Color in Liquid Lips in PK012 was all like, “Jiawun, Jiawun! Over here! Can you not see how beautiful I am? You obviously need me in your life” and I mean, you can’t argue with a liquid lipstick, can you? (or do you not talk to liquid lipsticks at all?) There are a bunch of shades in their normal Color in Liquid Lips range, but Etude House put out 5 more colours with their Bling Me Prism range for Summer 2015. I only picked this one up because it’s a colour that I don’t have in my collection and because it’s so gorgeous and different (you’ll see why!).
Etude House Bling Me Prism Color in Liquid Lips

    Applicator

The applicator of this is a tear shaped, doe-foot, similar to their normal Color in Liquid Lips range. However, the width of the tear shape on the Bling Me Prism ones are less wide. There is also a little hole in the middle of the applicator, and that is where the product will be when you pull the applicator out of the tube, and the rest of the applicator will have no product. I like this feature because it helps to make sure I don’t get too much product onto my lips (which will look gloopy). When you apply the product at the centre of your lips, the hole will lay down the product onto your lips and the doe-foot helps to spread and blend it out seamlessly.

Etude House Bling Me Prism Color in Liquid Lips

    Colour

The Etude House Bling Me Prism Liquid Lips in PK012 is a light peachy-pink shade that reflects a beautiful golden shimmer. The gold shimmer is more obvious in certain lightings and angles. This colour is pretty sheer – it gives a sheer wash of pink on my lips and adds the golden shimmer. This can be worn alone or on top of other lipsticks. If you like nudes and want to bring it up a notch, this is great to wear on it’s own because the golden shimmer is beautiful! I don’t really like wearing nudes on my lips so I always put this on top of other lipsticks.
Etude House Bling Me Prism Color in Liquid Lips Etude House Bling Me Prism Color in Liquid Lips

For casual every day wear, I like to top it over a pink lipstick and it just gives the most beautiful shimmer on the lips. Putting it on top of red lips is also gorgeous, especially for the holiday season.

    Formula

The formula of this is thicker than a normal gloss since it’s supposed to be a liquid lipstick. This shade in PK012 is not opaque enough to be a lipstick though. Eventhough the formula is a little thicker, it doesn’t feel sticky on the lips, it has more of a sleek, slippery feel. The finish of this is also super glossy! If you don’t like glossy lips, you can blot your lips on a piece of tissue (the shimmer will still stay on your lips).
This formula is long lasting but because it has micro gold shimmer, the shimmer will settle into the lines of the lips and so touch up is definitely necessary with this product. I think this is great for an event where you want to amp up your lip look without going overboard.
Buy Etude House Bling Me Prism Color in Liquid Lips ($12.40):
I’m so glad I picked this up, cause now I’ve upped my lip game, haha! This is definitely a great product to have in your collection. It’s a product you definitely won’t wear every day, but once in a while when you feel a little special and sparkly!

Beauty Haul – July 2015 | Etude House, Drugstore

    Beauty Haul | July 2015
Hi guys! Today’s post is a beauty haul! I haven’t hauled anything in a while now.. my last haul was in November last year. I didn’t buy much this year and when I pick up a few things, I usually just haul them on Instagram (@beautynerdbynight). We went shopping last week, and many places were having major sales! Etude House was Buy 1 Free 1, and the drugstore had some great products in their clearance sale. Without further ado, read on to find out what I picked up in my beauty haul!
    Beauty Haul | July 2015

Etude House Dear My Blooming Lips-talk in Etude Pink (LE)

This is the lipstick on the right of the picture. The DMBLT range from Etude House has a huge variety of colours, but this one in Etude Pink is a limited edition shade with limited edition packaging. The packaging is gawjusssss – their signature pink tube, with a little pendant/charm thingy and the gauzy-flary-fairy-wing (I’m terrible at describing things, aren’t I?). The colour itself is a light pink, with a frosty finish.

Etude House Dreaming Swan Dear My Blooming Lips-talk in PP502

This is also a DMBLT lipstick, but from their Dreaming Swan Spring 2015 collection. The packaging of this is also adorable! It is a peach tube with a white ribbon. The inside of the tube is decorated with pink details of ballet slippers, and ribbons. So girly and pretty! This colour is a medium pink with a purple base.
You can get all Etude House products from their global website. They ship internationally: http://www.etudehouse.com

Etude House Play Nails Peel-Off Base Coat

This is my favourite base coat ever! I used to swatch a lot of nail polishes, and this is the one product that made it tolerable. I don’t swatch as much anymore, but this is still great to have so I don’t have to use nail polish remover on my nails. I have a review of this up, if you’re interested! This is something that I will repurchase over and over and over and over again.

Etude House Play Nails in #49

This is one of those blurple colours, I can’t tell if it is a royal purple or a navy blue. I love Etude House Play Nail polishes and this looks like a beautiful colour so I can’t wait to try it out!

    Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Top Coat

I’ve wanted this for over a year now, mainly because I’ve seen people compare it to the Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat. I’m really hopeful because I can’t find Seche Vite anywhere anymore! I’ll keep you guys updated in a future review 🙂

Maybelline Baby Lips Glow in Baby Pink

I bought this because I read on a couple of blogs that this is comparable to the Dior Lip Glow! I had a moment where I wanted to splurge on the Dior Lip Glow, but it was out of stock and now the splurge moment has passed. So I picked this one up!
That’s everything in my beauty haul! It wasn’t too too much but I love everything I got, especially the Etude House lippies (mainly because of the packaging haha). I’m excited to try everything, and I’ll keep you guys posted!

Etude House Color Lips-Fit in #PK004 Pretty Fit Hotpink
Etude House Color Lips-Fit in #PK004 Pretty Fit Hotpink
It seems like every single makeup company is trying to come up with their own version of Matte Liquid Lipsticks these days, but hey, I’m not complaining. The Etude House Color Lips-fit originally came out as part of their Spring 2014 collection with 7 colours, but they’ve added tons of new colours over the year. I picked up one of them in the shade #PK004 Pretty Fit Hotpink during their Buy 1 Get 1 Free sale.

    Colour

#PK004 Pretty Fit Hotpink is a bright, medium hot pink shade, which is great for the summer time. Since it is a medium hot pink shade, it adds a fun pop of colour to the lips without going overboard. This shade is more of a purple-based hot pink and I think it’s a very universally flattering shade. This colour is something very different to me as I usually go for more neutral-pink shades, but I’m so glad I picked it up, and I think it made me fall in love with bright lip colours.

    Formula

On to the formula of this, this is a liquid formula when you apply it but dries to a powdery-matte finish on the lips. The thing I like the most about this is probably how it feel on the lips. After this dries, it feels like you’re not wearing anything on the lips. It is really lightweight and very comfortable to wear. These feel more comfortable than the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams (which is saying a lot, because I LOVE the SMLCs).
However, as you can see in the swatches above, they do accentuate the fine lines and cracks on my lips. They aren’t drying per se, but if you have dry lips, it is going to make the dryness look more noticeable. If you have dry lips like I do, I would definitely recommend a good lip scrub and some lip balm before applying this to get that beautiful, velvety, smooth finish.

    Longevity

The lasting power of this is pretty great! It does transfer a little bit when you eat and drink, but like most liquid lipsticks, it does stain your lips with the colour you’re wearing. When the product layer is gone with eating and drinking, it leaves a beautiful natural-looking stain on your lips. With this, I can get a good 5 hour wear out of it before having to touch up.
This currently retails for RM69 in Etude House outlets across Malaysia, and $11.70 on Etude House’s website, and $12 on Pretty And Cute.
