Peripera Fashion People’s Box INK Lip Pencil

Ok yes, I admit, I’m kind of in the middle of a crazy K-beauty obsession right now. I’m not so much into the makeup styles they have… I mean, creating puffiness under my eyes with makeup on my already existing dark circles? No thanks. They look amazing on some people, but definitely not on this gal right here! Anyway, my point is, lol, that Korean beauty products aren’t just for creating Korean beauty looks. They’re amazing to incorporate into your daily makeup routine as well. One product that Korean beauty is known for (and for good reason) is their super long-lasting lip products. When you speak of Korean beauty lip products, one brand always comes up – Peripera! Today I’ll be reviewing the Peripera Fashion People’s Box INK Lip Pencil (phew what a mouthful!) to see if they live up to their name!

The Peripera Fashion People’s Box INK Lip Pencil is a limited edition set, and you can’t buy the lip pencils separately. The set comes housed in a metal box with a graffiti design which can be used to hold all your lip pencils, after removing the plastic of course! There are 8 mini lip pencils in here which has 0.3g of product each. This retails anywhere between $25 to $30, but Jolse has it for a discounted price of $21 (which is less than $3 each). In the set, there is a great colour range, from nudes to pinks, to reds and there’s even a purple.

    You Can Buy These At:

    Jolse ($21)

These pencils twist-up so you don’t have to worry about sharpening them. Since they are pencils, you can be very precise with your application. Lip pencils have a reputation for being drying and drag on the lips when you’re applying it, but I’m happy to report that these are very creamy and glide on easily! They don’t cling onto dry lips or accentuate the lines on the lips.

I’m just going to come right out and say it – YES! A 100% YES – these definitely live up to the Peripera name! They are super pigmented, very creamy and long lasting. When you first apply it to the lips, it gives a somewhat glossy finish that’s kind of meh because I’m not really a glossy lip kind of gal. However, it does start to wear off after an hour and leave your lips with a GORGEOUS stain. That’s where the magic happens! These easily last through drinks and meals, and yes, makeout seshs too (you’re welcome ;)). I find that I only need to reapply if it’s been a LONG 10 hour day. Even then, these are so small and easy to carry in the purse.

Umm before we get into the swatches, yes I have bed hair. It was a Sunday morning when I took these pictures. And yes, that is a pajama top, hehe. Okay, on to the swatches!

#1 Beige – This is my least favourite shade out of all 8. I’m not a fan of super light nudes, and this one is very, very light! It’s a beige nude shade that is the same shade as my light-medium skin tone, only slightly pinker. If you’re fair or pale, this would look really pretty though! The best thing about this colour is that even though it’s so light, it doesn’t look patchy on the lips. It’s still opaque and creamy. However, since this is such a light colour, it doesn’t stain the lips at all. Because of this, it only wears for an hour or two before having to be reapplied.

#2 Yellow Orange – My bad! This shade is actually called Yellow Orange, not Yellow Beige. It’s a gorgeous wearable orange shade that has just the right amount of pink in it. This has rekindled my love for orange lipsticks! I used to wear them every day. I honestly don’t know why I ever stopped!

#3 Grapefruit – This is one of my favourite shades! It’s the perfect in between red and pink shade that complements my skin tone so well. It makes my overall complexion look healthy and fresh and awake. I’ve been wearing this shade when I have to get out the door at 8am for 9am classes because I look like a zombie otherwise. It’s fun and bright, but not too bold, which I like!

#4 Pink – This is a very girly and feminine pink shade. It’s a neutral pink with just a liiiiittle bit of blue undertones. I don’t usually wear pink shades like this, but this one is really pretty! I’m passing this one on to my cousin who lives in pink lipsticks.

#5 Red – This is a red that has some pink in it. Geez, I suck at describing colours, don’t I? Anyway, I was hoping this would be like a true, crimson red so I was a little let down. I find that this is even more pink than Grapefruit, which is weird, considering it’s called Red. It is still a really pretty colour, though.

#6 Fuchsia Red – This one is a bright, bold hot fuchsia pink shade. Fun fact – I can never remember how to spell fuchsia. I’ve always spelled it as fuschia, just because it seems to sound that way haha. Back to the topic at hand, this is a gorgeous summer shade! Fuchsia is not a colour I would typically wear, but this actually complements my skin tone quite well!

#7 Rose – This is my everyday go-to shade. I’ve been wearing this every single day, only swapping it out for Grapefruit sometimes. It’s the perfect MLBB shade for me that isn’t too muted, but isn’t too bold either. This leaves a really pretty natural stain on my lips that looks like I naturally have gorgeously coloured lips (nobody has to know ;)).

#8 Violet – It’s violet, like the name suggests! I have yellow undertones, and colours like this is a little too contrast-y on me. I’m giving this one to my sister, who is much fairer, with more neutral undertones. The stain that this shade leaves is a bright pink shade.

Overall, these are a must have in my opinion! If you love long-lasting lip shades, but you’re oh so over all the drying liquid lipsticks and lip tints, check out the Peripera Fashion People’s Box INK Lip Pencil. They’re super creamy, goes on smoothly and doesn’t cling to dry lips, they’re pigmented, and they come in 8 completely different shades. For less than $3 each, you cannot go wrong with these!

Best Dark Nude Lipsticks | Fall 2016

Fall is just around the corner, and everyone is pulling out their dark nude lipsticks. Who am I kidding, right? This whole year was all about dark nude lipsticks. I didn’t actually see many people rocking the bright lips this summer, including myself. I’m all about the dark nude lips! Now I know the definition of a “nude lipstick” is different for everyone, but to me, it’s basically anything that doesn’t look too bright on my lips. With that said, some products in this list might be considered pink or not a nude to some people. Sorry 🙁

Best Dark Nude Lipsticks | Fall 2016

So just a little bit about my skin tone. I have neutral-to-yellow undertones, medium skin. I’ve never tried a MAC Foundation, so I can’t give you an exact shade, but looking at comparisons online, I’m around an NC30. If your skin tone is around that, and you’re looking for a great “nude” lipstick, read on! 🙂

Sephora Cream Lip Stain in Marvelous Mauve ($14)

This is my holy grail mauve liquid lipstick! The shade is actually a tad darker and more purple than the swatch. I tried, but my camera (sure, blame it on the camera, Jiawun) was just freaking out at all the different shades. It’s like my boyfriend going, “They all look the. exact. same.” Off-topic! Anyway, this Sephora Cream Lip Stain is one of the best liquid lipstick formulas I’ve ever tried. It’s more like a lightweight creamy formula, it dries super quickly, and doesn’t accentuate the fine lines in my lips. It gives me a gorgeous velvety finish!

MAC Lipstick in Retro & Mocha ($17)

Retro was my first “dark nude lipstick” and the one that started my whole obsession. Retro is a little darker than in the swatch. It’s described as a peachy-pinky brown shade, but on me it looks like a brown-red shade. Throw on (I say “throw on” like it’s so easy, huh?) some winged liner and this lipstick. That’s all you need in life. Mocha is like a lighter version of Retro, but it has more peachy tones. This one is more of an every day shade for me, and it’s just beautiful. MAC Lipsticks have gorgeous formulas – they’re creamy, pigmented and long-lasting.

Too Faced Melted Lipstick in Chihuahua ($21)

I was going back and forth on whether or not I should include this in this post. Too Faced Melted Chihuahua on me is like a nude, it’s not really that dark at all on my skin tone. But, I won’t be doing another “nude lipsticks” post just because I don’t really wear nude nude lipsticks. Even though this isn’t very dark, it doesn’t give me concealer lips just because it is more of a peachy-pink toned nude. The formula is great – very creamy, long-lasting and not sticky.

ColourPop Ultra Matte Lips in Beeper & Bumble

ColourPop Ultra Matte Lips were my first ever liquid lipstick purchase and I initially picked up Bumble and a few other colours. But I loved it so much, I picked up Beeper in another order. We’re gonna start with Bumble because this was my first liquid lipstick love. I mean, you just never forget your first love, you know? Cheeseball. Anyway, ColourPop describes Bumble as a terracotta colour. I had no freaking clue what a terracotta colour was (try saying “terracotta colour” quickly multiple times. My Asian tongue messes up the r’s after the second time lol). Apparently, it’s an orangey-brown with a hint of pink. And I fell in love with the terracotta colour. Terracotta, how fancy.

Beeper, on the other hand, has my favourite description on ColourPop ever. “Call me, beep me, if you wanna reach me in this warm mid-tone taupe”. If you sang out the first part of that sentence, lets be best friends. To be completely honest, ColourPop Ultra Matte Lips are one of the most drying formulas I’ve tried. However, I still use and love them because they are also one of the most long-lasting. Eat, drink, make out, do whatever the heck you want. They’re staying on.

Caked Makeup Lip Fondant in Low Key

This one, is again, described as a freaking terracotta colour. Now I’m confused. What the heck? Is terracotta an orange-brown-pink? Or is terracotta a dusty pink? This Caked Makeup Lip Fondant in Low Key is a muted, dusty pink. It is the most beautiful pink nude ever. Not only that, Caked Makeup Lip Fondants also have a wonderful formula that is creamy, goes on really smooth and dries quickly without sucking your lips of hydration. And they smell delicious. That’s always a plus in my book!

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks in Lolita & Lolita II

These Kat Von D Liquid Lipsticks are my latest additions. About time, right? Lolita is described as a chestnut rose on Sephora’s website. On my lips, it leans ever so slightly purple. It looks like a dusty mauve on me. This one is definitely darker (like two shades darker than the swatch) than the rest of the colours I’m showing here. So I usually only wear this when I have a full face of makeup on.

Lolita II is also described. as. a. terracotta. Now I’m convinced I’ve been living under a rock because I didn’t know what a terracotta colour was, when every brand in the world is making terracotta coloured lipsticks. This one shows up pretty true to the swatch on my lips – it’s a dark peachy nude colour. Kat Von D Liquid Lipsticks are my favourite liquid lipstick formulas. Well, I guess, they kind of tie with the Sephora Cream Lip Stains. They are super creamy, feel very comfortable on the lips, and the formula is very smooth.

So those were my favourite dark nude lipsticks! My head is still trying to figure the terracotta colour. I mean, the three dark nude lipsticks that were described as a terracotta, looks completely different. Right, makeup lovers? Don’t ask your boyfriend or brother. They’ll say no. But all the three terracottas are still really gorgeous!

What are your favourite dark nude lipsticks? Let me know in the comments, because I’m obsessed with dark nude lipsticks and my goal in life is to have a whole drawer of dark nude lipsticks. Or be able to shape-shift. Either or. 🙂

    Mentholatum Sugar Lip Coloured Lipbalms

    1-1 2-1
Good morning, beauty nerds! So Spring is finally upon us and the weather is starting to warm up. It’s Summer 24/7 here in Malaysia, but it isn’t as good as it sounds. This is the time where the weather starts to burn up, rain is pretty much non-existent, and our annoying mosquito friends come out to play and feed on the unluckily “sweet-blooded” (myself included). In this super humid, grossly-sticky season, I like to wear minimal makeup and choose makeup products that feel as lightweight as possible. This is the time I break out the serum foundations, and tinted lip balms.
A fairly newly launched tinted lip balm that has been a staple in my every day makeup drawer is the Mentholatum Sugar Lip Coloured Lipbalm. It promises ultimate hydration that seals in moisture and gives soft, supple, youthful lips while giving a pop of colour to the lips. This is a great every day product to enhance your lips for that bright, natural makeup look. If you love Soft Pink Lips in just one swipe, this product may just be the one for you!
There are four shades available: 01 Vintage Pink, 02 Dancing Pink, 03 Kissy Pink, and 04 Rock ‘N Pink. I have Dancing Pink and Rock ‘N Pink to show you guys in this post today!
    3-1 4-1 5-1 6
Dancing Pink is a cool-toned, frosted baby pink colour. This colour is super gorgeous and sparkly, but because it is so cool and light, it looks a little too white on my medium, yellow-undertone skin. However, if you have a cooler or neutral undertone, or if you love light pinks, this is definitely one you should try! The colour is very pigmented as you can see in the swatch! Dancing Pink does have tiny glitters in them so if you’re not a huge fan of glitter, maybe skip out on this shade.
    7 8
Rock ‘N Pink is an “almost-red-but-not-quite” pink colour, and this one is my every day lip colour of the moment! This gives a pretty wash of pinky-red on your lips that looks like that “popsicle” lip. This red is pretty neutral-toned so it will go well with all skin tones.
These are again, formulated with their Brown Sugar recipe. Brown Sugar is actually a natural humectant that will nourish, smoothen, and seal moisture on the lips. When applying this, the Brown Sugar instantly melts into the lips to hydrate and soften the lips. Other than that, the formulation of this lip balm also includes amazing hydrating ingredients like Super Hyaluronic Acid, Ceramide and their very own MaxiLipTM formula.
I love these lip balms so much! They feel very good on the lips because they are very lightweight. The formula of these aren’t sticky, or waxy, or slippery. They just feel like a very thin, moisturising layer on your lips. This product applies like a dream – the brown sugar formula melts into my lips and the product just glides on effortlessly. As for the longevity of this product, I find that this is pretty long lasting compared to other tinted lip balms. However, being a lip balm, you definitely have to reapply after eating unless you’re a very delicate(is that even the word to describe it?) eater which I am not haha. I don’t mind reapplying though because these are very easy to reapply – you don’t even need a mirror!
These are available at all leading pharmacies and supermarkets across Malaysia, and are priced at RM15.80 each.

If you are looking for a natural, every day lip colour that looks and feels great on the lips, definitely check this Mentholatum Sugar Lip Coloured Lipbalms range out. I rock Rock ‘N Pink (bad pun heh) every single day and it perfectly enhances my lip colour to give a soft, rosy look. These are very affordable too! They are also great if you’re always on the run, or late in the morning, you can just slap these on without a mirror and your lips will look amazing even without a lipstick.

    MAC Lady Danger Matte Lipstick

MAC Lady Danger LipstickMAC Lady Danger Lipstick
MAC is a place where I shop in only if there is something I’ve done tons of research on and want because they are so highly priced here in Malaysia. That being said, I only own a few products from them and most of them are lipsticks. I have to say that from the products I’ve tried from MAC, there is always something similar that I can get from the drugstore for a fraction of the price. However, there is just something about MAC lipsticks that I love. All the lipsticks I’ve tried from them are amazing quality, super creamy and pigmented. My latest addition is MAC Matte Lipstick in Lady Danger.
MAC Lady Danger LipstickMAC Lady Danger Lipstick

    Colour

MAC Lady Danger Lipstick is a bright, orange-red matte. I love using orange-reds for parties, events, dinners, etc because they’re gorgeous and different from a typical red lip. Orange-red lipsticks also work so well on my yellow-based, medium skin tone to brighten up my complexion while keeping everything looking pulled together. I also love a good matte lipstick as matte lipsticks typically last on the lips longer, and the matte effect is so in trend right now.
Swatch of MAC Lady Danger LipstickLip Swatch of MAC Lady Danger Lipstick

    Formula

MAC Lady Danger is super creamy and glides on the lips effortlessly. It is so pigmented and one swipe of the product is enough to give the actual colour of the lipstick bullet on your lips. One thing I find with this though, is that it’s more on the thick side of a creamy formula. Eventhough it’s a thicker creamy formula, it doesn’t feel heavy on the lips at all. Since it is a matte lipstick, it does tend to cling onto the fine lines of my lips. I always use a lip balm underneath when my lips aren’t looking too nice. It is very lightweight on the lips and doesn’t feel uncomfortable.
I feel like I only ever wear a red lip during special occasions but with this lipstick, I find myself grabbing it almost every single day. For every day wear, I like to either put on a slippery coat of lip balm underneath to dilute the colour, or to just dab the lipstick on my lips instead of swiping it on, and blend with my fingers to give a sheer wash of colour.
It’s the most beautiful orange-red lipstick I own, and it’s very creamy and comfortable on the lips. MAC Lady Danger has definitely taken the place as my favourite MAC lipstick, bumping MAC Morange (a straight-up, bright orange) to second!
MAC Lady Danger is available in stores and online:
I’m a huge fan of orange lipsticks, so it’s no surprise that I’m in love with MAC Lady Danger! What are your favourite orange or orange-red lipsticks? Let me know in the comments!

How to Get “Kylie Jenner” Plump Lips

Pictorial: How to Get Kylie Jenner Plump Lips
Thanks to Kylie Jenner, she has made all of us want big, plump lips that most of us honestly can’t have without lip injections, or great genes. But thanks to the magical world of makeup that we all love, we can achieve that Kylie Jenner lip with just a few products! I personally have so-so lips, they’re not too thin or big, but sometimes I want to add that extra sexy, pouty-ness to my makeup look. Now I’m not saying that only plump lips equal sexy, all lip shapes and sizes are equally beautiful.
Honestly I think what all this rage is about is that Kylie Jenner used to have quite thin lips, but out of nowhere has these big, plump lips that makes her look completely different. She first claimed that it was just makeup, until recently where she admitted to lip injections. That being said, I actually really like Kylie Jenner. Enough rambling, let’s get on with the pictorial! Again, further instructions will be below the pictorial 🙂

Pictorial: Start across the pictorial, then down.

Pictorial: How to Get Kylie Jenner Plump Lips

You will need a lip scrub, a toothbrush, or a wash cloth; a matte nude lip liner, your lipstick of choice, a shimmery pink or white eyeshadow/highlighter, clear lip gloss (optional).

    1. Start off by exfoliating your lips to make your lips more plump and get blood flow to your lips. You can use a lip scrub, a toothbrush or a wash cloth.
    2. Overline your lips with a nude lip liner. Line slightly over your natural lip line.
    3. Apply your lipstick as you usually would, and make sure to apply it over the lip liner as well.
    4. Add a highlight shade on your Cupid’s bow to add light and make it look like your lips are pouty, and some matte bronzer under your bottom lip as a shadow to make it seem like your bottom lip is plump and pouty, thus causing a shadow.
    5. Add a shimmery eyeshadow/highlighter to the center of your lips. This will make your lips look plumper. You can stop here if you prefer matte lips.
    6. If you like glossy lips, add a clear gloss over the entire lip, and you’re done!
Getting plump lips has never been easier, and I don’t think the plump lip trend is going away any time soon as long as Kylie rocks them! I personally love my natural lip shape so I only do this on special occasions, but it is a beautiful look nonetheless. What do you think of the Kylie Jenner lips?
