Skip to Floral Garden Bath Salts Recipe
My favourite thing to do after a long day is to relax in a soothing bath. Which is a good thing, considering I am a little bit more obsessed with bath products than the average person. I have a train case filled with store-bought bath bombs, bubble bars, and soaps. I also have a separate shelving unit that holds all my homemade soaps, bath salts, body butters and body scrubs. Yes, I have a problem… but it’s a very pleasant-smelling problem 😉
One of my favourite bath products is bath salts. Not only do they help with tired muscles (dear boyfriend, I know you’re laughing. < It’s a running joke that I have really weak arms, which isn’t too far from the truth lol), they are also incredibly easy to make and they’re very customisable. You only need a few products and it takes almost no time to whip up! Also, they make a great gift which is perfect from the upcoming holiday season! I have one of my favourite bath salt recipes for you today – my DIY Floral Garden Bath Salts! If you want to make these as gifts, I’ve also included FREE Printable Labels at the end of the post 🙂
What You Need:
Rock Salt OR Pink Himalayan Coarse Salt
Essential Oils (I used Lavender, Bergamot and Geranium)
Dried Flowers of Choice (I used Roses, Lavender and Calendula)
The main ingredients in Bath Salts are well… salts 😛 In this recipe, I used a mixture of Epsom Salt and Rock Salt. The Epsom Salt provides minerals in your bath that help with muscle aches/stiffness, dry and itchy skin, eczema, and more. The rock salt helps to combat water retention and regulates sleep. I like to add essential oils to my bath salts to include aromatherapy benefits. You can use your favourite essential oil, or a blend of a few. Look up “Essential Oil blends” on Google, they have a ton of different blends for different uses. My favourite essential oil blend for bath salts (and the one I used in this recipe) is Lavender, Bergamot and Geranium. It’s the perfect blend for the ultimate relaxing bath!
I like using dried flowers in my bath products because well, to be honest, they feel and look super luxurious 😛 I love soaking in a tub filled with floating flowers! It is said that dried flowers in bath products are actually not just for looks though. Dried roses boost circulation, lavender helps with relaxation and calendula soothes and repairs the skin. I will add though, that using dried flowers in baths is messy. You’ll have to clean up after your bath. Before you go “ughhhhhhh I don’t want to clean!!” (I feel you!), you can fill a muslin bag, cloth, or even an old pantyhose with the bath salts to get all the benefits of the bath WITHOUT the clean-up afterwards. You’re welcome 😉
Ingredients
- 500g Epsom Salt
- 250g Rock Salt OR Pink Himalayan Coarse Salt
- 125g Baking Soda
- 15-30 drops Essentials Oils of Your Choice (*Optional - I used Lavender, Bergamot, Geranium)
- Dried Flowers of Your Choice (I used Roses, Lavender and Calendula)
- 4 x 8oz Containers
Instructions
- Measure your ingredients. I like to measure by weight to ensure consistency in different batches.
- Sift the Baking Soda OR break any clumps with your hands.
- Mix Epsom Salt, Rock Salt and Baking Soda together in a big bowl using a whisk.
- *Optional: Drop 15-30 drops of Essential Oils into your mixture (I used a blend of Lavender, Bergamot and Geranium).
- Use your hands and massage the mixture to disperse the EO evenly throughout and to remove any clumps.
- Spread your mixture evenly onto a baking tray lined with a baking sheet.
- Bake at 80C (175F) for 15 minutes.
- Let it cool.
- Mix your dried flowers of choice into the mixture.
- Spoon the bath salts into jars and you're done!
Notes
*You can mix your essential oils. Look up "Essential Oil Blends" for great combinations. *Baking your bath salts prevents them from clumping together. Salt is hygroscopic. It absorbs moisture from the air, which causes them to clump together. The weather is so humid here that I always have to bake my bath salts or they clump and become a big solid chunk in under 48 hours. After baking, they're good to use and are clump-free for months!

I have three different FREE printable labels for you! There are two rectangular labels and one circular one. I print my rectangular labels on sticker paper to stick them right on the container. As for the circular ones, you can print them on card stock and use it as a tag OR print them on a sticker paper and stick them to the lid of the container.
Print your labels at 100% and make sure to uncheck the box for “Fit” for the best quality. To print your labels, click on the picture below. The pictures with the labels will show up. Click “Save Image As..” to save it. Then, just print it! 🙂
