Summer is in full bloom and it is SO hot and humid out. Sure, the warmth is great but…
Top three things that you don’t like about summertime… go!
Mine is sweating after being out for 10 minutes, makeup sliding off in an hour, and OILY SCALP. My scalp has always been oily but it seems like during the summer, it gets oily so much faster.
I have a really oily scalp, but VERY dry ends. Because of this, I’ve been trying to heed my hairdresser’s advice and wash my hair every other day, but with this heat and how oily my hair is, it’s really hard to do so without some intervention.
I’ve tried out a ton of different product combinations to help keep the greasiness at bay while still hydrating the ends of my hair, and it’s been a loooong journey!
I think I’ve finally found the right combination that works really well for my hair right now so I thought I’d share it with you! If your hair type is similar to mine, here are the 4 Best Products for Oily Scalp with Dry Ends.
These products work together to keep my second-day hair looking fresh while still keeping my ends hydrated.
Innisfree Green Tea Mint Fresh Shampoo ($11.50)
I was on the hunt for a shampoo that would remove all the oils on my scalp yet not strip my hair of moisture and I think this is the closest I’ve come to that. This shampoo has a minty scent and it also feels minty on the scalp.
Sometimes when I use a shampoo that doesn’t clean enough, my hair gets oily in 12 hours and that’s really, really annoying. With this Innisfree Green Tea Mint Fresh Shampoo, I can go about a day and a half without my hair getting greasy. Not only that, a lot of the time, shampoos for oily hair can make your ends dry and tangly but I haven’t had that issue with this one.
If you have an oily scalp with dry ends and you hate using shampoos that make your hair feel super stiff and tangled, give this one a go!
CP-1 Raspberry Treatment Vinegar ($8)
I have a bottle of this in my shower and two back-ups in my drawer… I think it’s safe to say that I’m obsessed, haha.
This CP-1 Raspberry Treatment Vinegar is a rinse that has a pH of 5.5 to soften, smoothe and detangle hair. The raspberry vinegar purifies the scalp, while peppermint leaf extract soothes and refreshes the scalp, with olive oil, which moisturises the hair.
I have replaced my conditioner with this every other wash, so I use this about 3 times a week. It does pretty much what a conditioner does – smoothes and detangles my hair – but it also makes my hair feel light and bouncy.
After shampooing and rinsing, I use this in place of a conditioner. I pour it directly onto my scalp, making sure to get every part. Then, I leave it on for a minute or so, then rinse. It leaves my hair feeling super soft.
Also, did I mention… it smells freaking amazing? If you love the smell of berries, you’ll love this! The berry scent lingers so long that my hair still smells amazing the day after. I’ve been using this for almost a year now and I lost count of how many bottles I’ve used up, lol. This has also helped me so much with hair loss.
If conditioners weigh down your hair or it makes your hair way too oily, you need to try this out.
Mise En Scene Perfect Serum ($8.65)
This stuff is a miracle-worker. I’ve read about this Mise En Scene Perfect Repair Serum in so many different K-beauty blogs that I decided to give it a whirl. And I’m so glad I did! My hair is usually dull and the ends look frizzy and dry. I’ve been using it for over two months now (barely made a notch cause you only need the tiiiiniest amount) and my hair has never looked or felt better.
After I wash my hair, I towel dry and apply 1 pump of this onto the length of my hair (without putting any near the scalp). Then, I blow dry and I’m left with smooth, shiny, bouncy hair. It makes my hair feel really soft and smell amazing too.
Seriously guys, if you’re on the lookout for a great hair serum that keeps your hair looking shiny and feeling soft, this really affordable one is something to add to your collection.
Batiste Dry Shampoo Divine Dark ($8.99)
I used to absolutely hate dry shampoo. I could never stand how it made my hair feel or looked (grey tint, anyone?). After trying a bunch of different ones, I never liked any until I tried this Batiste Dry Shampoo in Divine Dark.
Batiste’s Divine Dark Dry Shampoo is a coloured dry shampoo that is made for brunettes. Because it’s colored, it doesn’t leave my hair with a white tint and blends in super well with my natural hair colour.
After getting this, I’ve never had a bad hair day that’s caused by greasy roots. When I wake up with second-day hair, I spray this very generously into my roots, leave it in for a minute or two, then tousle my hair the way I like it. If I have time (and honestly, when I’m not feeling lazy), I put in some quick 5-minute flat iron curls, and voila!
I really like the Batiste Dry Shampoos because they’re really affordable and they don’t feel icky on the hair. The one thing that I’m not crazy about though, is the scent. It has a very strong fragrance but I don’t find that it lingers on the hair that much.
If you have dark hair and hate dry shampoos that give you that dreaded grey tint, check this one out. If you have lighter hair, Batiste also has a ton of other dry shampoos that would work well.
Those are the 4 Best Products for Oily Scalp with Dry Ends! They are all very affordable and they work amazingly to get rid of the greasiness, while keeping my hair looking shiny and healthy.
